GEOFF CHAUCER JUNIOR
(1375------------)

A Random History of Rock’n’Roll in Middle English.

Geoff Chaucer Junior is a medieval bard who makes two enormous claims. Firstly, that he is a son of the great fourteenth century poet Geoffrey Chaucer, and secondly, that he has written many songs that sound incredibly similar to the pop and rock songs we know and love today. Geoff says he has been singing them for hundreds of years, and that this is the simple proof that the music industry is full of plagiarism. Geoff speaks and sings in a language he calls ’Middly English’. It is a strange hybrid indeed, that sits somewhere between the language of his father and the language he has gathered on his journeys from thence to the present day. His vocabulary may sound odd on first hearing, but some enthusiasts have described it ‘has a rare insight into medieval English’ while others think he just has an irritable vowel problem..

Geoff loves to dance while he sings. In rare interviews, he has said that this is the tradition of the troubadours who travelled through Europe during the Middle ages, entertaining the villagers and towns folk, and leading us on a ‘righte songe and dance‘. It is upon these journeys that Geoff put together his show, ’A random history of Rock’n’roll in Middle English‘. Thus, with 600 years on the road under his gurdle its about time the digital age caught up with the Trewe Kynge of Pop and Rocke’!
